LASER THERAPY

WHAT DOES RESEARCH DEMONSTRATE?
Injuries treated with laser therapy heal faster.
Laser therapy has a strengthening effect on tissue repair.
Laser therapy improves blood flow and lymphatic drainage.
It is an effective means of relief for may pain syndromes.
It can improve immune response.

You may be a candidate for laser therapy, a therapeutic, non-invasive, infra-red, painless, safe and effective treatment that can help in the reduction and elimination of pain suffered from the following:

Arthritis                    Rheumatoid Arthritics                Osteoarthritis          Fibromyalgia             Herniated Disc
Spinal Stenosis
         Shingles
Back, Neck  Pain       TMJ
    Sciatic  Pain
Knee Pain Gout         Shoulder Pain                            Hand Pain               Leg Pain
Carpal Tunnel                            Bursitis
Nerve Root Pain
Slow Healing
  Fractures             Postoperative Pain Contusions
Epicondylitis (tennis elbow)
Migraine Headaches
Tendonitis
Heel Spures  and  Plantar F
asciitis
Sports Injurries

Auto and Work Related
 Injuries
 Chondromalacia Patellae
Strains and Sprains, and the accompanying swelling of area
Soft tissue injuries

Can laser be used in conjunction with other treatment?
Yes, laser therapy is often used with other forms of therapy including Chiropractic Adjustments, Physical Therapy, and following surgery. K-Laser is a FDA cleared device.

Is it true that really innovative therapeutic strategies are being developed in Laser therapy today?
Yes, it is. The synchronization of continuous and modulated Laser emissions with different wavelengths, achieved through the innovative technology, permits us to obtain the synergy of the single effects (antioedema, anti-inflammatory, antalgic). This allows us to perform shorter therapies, and achieve extremely better results. Low level therapy under 500mw is outdated technology, and this is why doctors need to be aware that new technology has been developed. K-Laser is the frontrunner is this new technology with the first laser to emit a dual Infrared wavelength simultaneous in a continuous mode or a modulated mode.

Does Laser therapy cause any side effect?
Side effects are rare and transitory. Some patients have reported a mild increase of pain when the laser touches an area of pain. This is usually brief and subsides quickly. Temporary redness can also develop in the region of treatment, this occurs from the vasodilatation effect of laser therapy

How many Laser sessions are necessary?
Start with 5 sessions to determine if laser is the correct care for you.  Usually ten to fifteen sessions is sufficient.

Are the protective goggles obligatory both for patients and Laser operators?
Yes. The protective devices are needed to protect eyes. Direct exposition to Laser light can cause eye disorders, and damage the retina.

What is the power of Laser therapy devices?
Power of diode Laser devices used in Laser therapy can vary and depends on the modality of emission. Most lasers on the market today in the USA have a power range from 5mw to 500mw Continuous Lasers. The K-laser will emit a power range from 1000mw to 6000mw making this a high power laser.

Some patients say they feel heat even if they are treated with high power Laser emission. Is Laser therapy based on thermal effects?
The effectiveness of Laser therapy does not depend on thermal effects. The energy is delivered to tissues directly, and not through heat. The heat sensation is an indirect effect, due to the increase in the local circulation of the treated area.

Can the same therapeutic effects be achieved with a non-coherent light source?
The therapeutic effects are much greater if the emission is coherent. The bio-simulative effects of coherent infrared and near infrared laser occur at the cellular level, releasing nitric oxide from hemoglobin and enzymatic reactions in the cell and mitochondria.
